HRA proposes an environmental improvement to the planter and contents on Hyndland Road at Prince Albert Road. The existing planter was installed by Glasgow City Council (GCC) ‘Roads’ to give safe closure to the former roadway. It follows that Roads requires that the planter remains robust and solid. GCC Parks, on the other hand is keen for HRA to adopt the planter. Currently it is used as a rubbish receptacle and has a dated, uninspiring appearance.
HRA committee member and architect, Martin McCrae, has produced an illustration for consultation. (see below) The proposal is to clad the existing planter with a wire mesh containing decorative stones. Trees (of a more robust nature than the illustration) would be illuminated, during winter months, with low voltage lights, using power supplied by GCC City Lighting.

Funds to support the cost of this work have been raised through local traders and HRA would undertake to raise any further funds that are required. All that Hyndland would be required to do is adopt a programme of tidying up the planter, linked to our existing Hyndland Clean-Up activity.
HRA seeks local endorsement of this proposal, so please vote now at the poll on the right.
Those who prefer to vote with a pen may do so at Kind Regards, 149 Hyndland Road.
With this work done Hyndland will be much cheerier on drab winter’s nights and, local people should feel ownership of a planter conceived to reveal litter, which will be locally removed.
