After two very successful clean-ups in Hyndland in support of the Clean Glasgow campaign, Hyndland Residents Association (HRA) now intend to take this a stage further by adopting the raised bed at the junction of Prince Albert Road and Hyndland Road as a community project since it has become neglected over the years.
We are presently in discussions with Glasgow Community & Safety Services (GCSS) and Clean Glasgow to create an action plan to clear this bed in the New Year and then to plant seasonal flowers throughout the year with this culminating in a large Christmas tree being erected at the end of the year ready for the festive season. This is a very ambitious plan as we need a fixed electricity supply to power the lights for the Christmas tree. HRA are presently in discussions with our local traders who are very supportive of this project. Many of them have generously donated prizes for the grand raffle, which will be drawn at the HRA Hogmanay Ceilidh, on the 31st December 2008. All the proceeds from the raffle will go towards putting in the permanent electricity supply so that the Hyndland residents can enjoy having a beautiful Christmas tree in 2009 and every year thereafter, thus reintroducing a past tradition. If you are interested in getting involved and want to help with this project and have good planning skills and/or green fingers we would love you to join us. Please e-mail your interest at
